Basic Features

This is definitely one of the more basic car seats on the market. However, you also can rest easy knowing that your child will be able to use it for many years before you need to think about getting a booster seat.

Your child may sit in the rear-facing position from when they weigh 5 to 40 pounds, and from when they are between 19 and 40 inches tall. It’s generally recommended that you keep your child in this position until they’re 2 years old, and then you may switch to the forward-facing position, which your child will be able to use from when they’re between 22 and 50 pounds and 28 to 50 inches tall. It’s very easy to switch between both positions and it doesn’t take much effort to do so.

There are two different types of this car seat that you may choose to purchase- the regular Sonus and the Sonus 65. The latter has all the same features, the only difference being that it will accommodate a child who weighs up to 65 pounds, meaning that you can use it for a bit longer. The fact that this is a convertible car seat will save you a lot of money in the end.

The comes with a lot of cushioning to ensure that your child is as comfortable and safe as possible. There is a headrest that you may choose to use while your child is using the seat in its rear-facing position. The seat also comes with cup holders that will be very useful for older children and when you go on longer car rides.

The seat has been approved for use on airplanes, which has become fairly standard for many of the car seats that have hit the market recently. More and more families are starting to travel even when their children are fairly young, and it’s important to have a good car seat to help make your trip a lot easier. And in addition to that, the seat is lightweight, so you’ll have an easier time carrying it around and transporting it.

The padding on the seat can also be easily removed and thrown in the washing machine when your child has a spill or an accident.

Advanced Features

As we mentioned, this car seat is one of the more basic models on the market. Therefore, it doesn’t have too many advanced features, if any at all. The only things that we can mention are the fact that it has been tested and proven safe for even rollover accidents and the harness will fit snugly around your child no matter how big or small they are, so you won’t have to worry for one second about whether or not your child is safe.

The seat is also rather small and compact, which makes it an attractive option for many parents. As always, it is recommended that you measure how big the backseat of your car is first before making any purchases because you don’t want to find out that the seat won’t fit. The dimensions are 20 x 19.25 x 28 inches. We haven’t seen too many reviews for how well the seat fits in smaller cars versus bigger cars, but we have seen people say that the seat in the rear-facing position does have some impact on the driver’s or the passenger’s legroom, which is something you may want to consider.

Also, the seat is approved for use on airplanes, meaning that it can’t be too bulky if it’s able to fit in an economy-size seat. With that being said, the seat is big enough to accommodate your child from when they’re a newborn to when they’re around elementary school age.

There are also some people who claim that you will be able to purchase multiples of the seat if you have more than one child who needs a car seat, but again, this will depend on how large your car is. If you have a smaller car, then you’ll probably be able to fit two seats across at most, but if you have a bigger car, then this may not be an issue for you.

Ease of Use

Most people did not say anything negative about whether or not the seat was easy to install. It comes ready to be used right from the box, so you won’t have to worry about assembly. People agreed that it’s pretty easy to switch the seat from the rear-facing to the forward-facing position, so when your child is big enough for that, you won’t have to experience too many problems. Also, if and when your child has an accident, you will be able to throw the padding in the washing machine to help make cleaning a little bit easier.

The only thing that bothered people was the fact that the seat only has one recline position when in the rear-facing position, which tends to cause problems for the person sitting in the seat in front of it. Even people who aren’t particularly tall said that they had issues with legroom due to the seat being in the rear-facing position. This doesn’t necessarily contribute much to how easy the seat is to use, but it can cause some difficulties for other passengers in the car. This is something you will want to consider, especially if your car isn’t big to begin with.

As with most car seats, this one doesn’t seem to come with any additional accessories. It has a headrest that you can choose to keep or remove, but you can’t use it if the seat is in the forward-facing position. There are also cup holders that are included for your child to store their drinks or toys as needed, but these may only be used in the forward-facing position. Otherwise, the seat is rather straightforward and doesn’t have any accessories. Another thing is that you may opt to purchase a seat protector for the backseat of your car to protect it from any spills, accidents, or indentation left by the car seat.

One area where this car seat exceeds all expectations is when it comes to safety features. Of course, any car seat that you choose to purchase will have to have passed a multitude of safety regulations in order to be sold on the market, so this is one area where you won’t have to worry in any situation. However, this car seat, besides being tested for regular safety regulations, has also passed tests for rollover accidents, which means that it will keep your child safe no matter what. Hopefully this is not an issue that you will ever encounter, but it does help to make you feel better about a product when you know that it’s completely safe.

There are probably much more comfortable seats available on the market, but that doesn’t mean that this one is lacking. It doesn’t have as much padding as some others do, but it still provides enough to make sure that your child is comfortable. You also will be able to adjust the harness according to how tall or big your child is, which is especially helpful when it comes to their safety. They will fit in the seat snugly without feeling stuck. There is a headrest that you may choose to use when your child is smaller to help protect their head.

Keep in mind that this seat is meant to last your child from when they’re a newborn all the way until they’re at least 50 pounds, so you know that it has all the means necessary to make your child comfortable at any age.

This is a lightweight option. That is an important factor for many couples due to the fact that more and more people travel nowadays and carry their children around in their car seats. Plus, having a lightweight option helps to make storage and installation a lot easier. Itonly weighs 10.8 pounds, making it one of the lightest options on the market. So you won’t have to strain your back when you lift the car seat.

Evenflo is a brand that is known for its affordable and high-quality car seats. We have reviewed several Evenflo seats in the past that are below $100 and this one also falls in that category. You can get the regular Sonus seat for $79 and the Sonus 65 (the one that is meant to accommodate children up to 65 pounds instead of 50) for $99. Not every family is able to afford some of the very high-end seats that are on the market, but every family does need to have a car seat. Despite the fact that this is one of the cheaper options out there, it doesn’t mean that you’ll have to compromise on quality. Plus, the fact that you will be able to use it for so long means that you will be able to save a lot of money in the long run.
